- Obverse
- The stylized federal eagle, the traditional symbol of German sovereignty, surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union. Under the eagle is inscribed the name of the state "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND" and the letter of the workshop "J" from the Hamburg workshop. The year is on the right side, and the face value "20 EURO", on the left. The inscription "SILBER 925" (silver 925‰), is above the eagle.
