Obverse
View of Avenue Champs-Elysées with the Arc de Triomphe in the background, taken from Place de la Concorde, we can see the tip of the obelisk. At its center is a large, "over-gilded" flame, enhanced by two golden arches. The trees on either side of the obelisk are adorned with a glittering garland of stars in memory of the Unknown Soldier. The "surdorés" features symbolize the life that animates the most beautiful avenue in the world. Gilding Paris as "the city of light".
Reverse
A modern conceptualization of Paris, the arrondissements are like an archipelago of small islands, grouped together in a pyramid shape and separated by the Seine, where the Saint-Louis and Cités islands are easily identifiable.
