1 Ryal from England. Issued from 1605 to 1617. Struck in Gold (.979). Measures 34 mm and weighs 6.8 g.
- Obverse
- Half-length facing bust of King James I, armoured and holding sword in right hand, royal shield on left arm, in ship sailing left, I on flag set on forecastle. (James by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland)
- Reverse
- Floriated cross with lis at end of each limb and rose on sun in centre, crowned lion passant left in angles, all within tressure of eight arches with trefoils in spandrels. (This is the Lord's doing and it is marvellous)
