Thaler from City of Lucerne. Issued in 1518. Struck in Silver. Measures 42.5 mm and weighs 30 g.
- Obverse
- Saint Leodegar facing right, sitting on a gothic throne, nimbate, wearing mitre and regalia. A soldier to his right, gouging the eyes of the saint with a drill, wearing sword. (New coin of Lucerne.)
- Reverse
- Crowned coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire depicting double headed eagle. Coat of arms of Lucerne below; left field hatched; right field plain. Two lions supporting the two coats of arms. Coats of arms of the 16 bailiwicks on square shields around; clockwise: Rothenburg, Entlebuch, Sempach, Triengen, Malters, Kriens, Merenschwand, Ebikon, Rüßegg, Weggis, Horw, Habsburg, Münster, Sursee, Ruswil, and Willisau.
