Thaler from City of Lucerne. Issued in 1557. Struck in Silver. Measures 44.8 mm and weighs 27.5 g.
- Obverse
- Saint Leodegar facing left, sitting on a gothic throne, nimbate, wearing mitre and regalia. A soldier to the left, wearing sword, gouging the right eye of the saint with a drill. Tiled floor below. (Sanctus Leodigarius Patronus Lucernae. Saint Leodegar, patron of Lucerne.)

- Crowned coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire depicting double headed eagle. Coat of arms of Lucerne below; left half hatched; right half plain. Two lions supporting the two coats of arms. Coats of arms of the 16 bailiwicks on square shields around; clockwise: Rothenburg, Entlebuch, Sempach, Triengen, Malters, Kriens, Merenschwand, Ebikon, Rüßegg, Weggis, Horw, Habsburg, Münster, Sursee, Ruswil, and Willisau.
