- Obverse
- Forward facing bust, saltire on either side of the king's neck. (James, by the Grace of God, King of Scots)
- Reverse
- Long cross with trefoils formed of three pellets and six-pointed mullets in alternate quarters. (God is my Defender and my Redeemer Town of Edinburgh)
