5 Euros from Italy. Issued in 2023. Struck in Copper. Measures 32 mm and weighs 15 g.
- Obverse
- In the upper section, some historical buildings of the city of Bergamo: Galgario Tower, the Baptistery of the Cathedral, San Giacomo Gate (Porta San Giacomo) and Palazzo della Ragione; in the centre, some historical buildings of the city of Brescia: the Castle, also known as “Falcone d’Italia” (The Italian Eagle), Palazzo della Loggia and the “Capitolium”; in the section below, on the left, a decorative motif drawn from the mosaic floor of the Domus dell’Ortaglia of ancient “Brixia”, an archaeological site which preserves traces of the most ancient remains of Brescia; on the right, detail of a capital of the Palazzo della Ragione. Below, on the left, the name of the designer “U. PERNAZZA”. Arch-shaped, above and below respectively, the inscription “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”.

- On the left, details from the “Vittoria Alata” (Winged Victory), a bronze statue symbolising the city, preserved in the Capitolium of Brescia; above, a decorative mosaic motif drawn from the floor of the Domus dell’Ortaglia; on the right, two geese and a floral motif drawn from a capital of the Palazzo della Ragione; in the centre, details of the Northern Portico of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore of Bergamo. Around, arch-shaped, the inscriptions “BERGAMO•BRESCIA” and “CAPITALI ITALIANE DELLA CULTURA 2023”. On the left, “R”, identifying the Mint of Rome; on the right, below, the value “5 EURO”.
