- The Māori deity Tangaroa (guardian of the oceans and waters) is depicted in the style of a traditional pūhoro design. Tangaroa is surrounded by waves in the four cardinal directions, with various sea creatures within the waves; this refers to Tangaroa's ability to control the tides and waves and replicate the effect created when a canoe travels on water. (Kohati tara is "One dollar" in Māori.)
