- Head on the right of Queen Elizabeth II, aged 77, without crown, wearing a necklace and earrings. Background with recurring motif.

- The motif on the reverse, by British artist G. E. Kruger-Gray, depicts the iconic beaver seen from the left, on a stone surrounded by water. The beaver and water are colored in natural shades of brown and blue. The vintage "2016", the word "CANADA" and the face value "5 CENTS" are engraved on the reverse.
