Obverse

Detail of the bust depicting a self-portrait of Antonio Canova flanked by the Canova coat of arms depicting the heraldic coat of arms of the Marquisate of Ischia di Castro del Lazio, also the work of the Italian sculptor and painter, both exhibited on his tomb inside the Canova Temple of Possagno, Treviso. Around, the writing “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”; on the right, the author's signature “U. PERNAZZA”.

Reverse

In the centre, detail of the marble statue “Venere Italica” by Antonio Canova, preserved in the Palatine Gallery in Florence. On the right, the value “5 EURO” and “R”, identifying the Rome Mint; on the left, vertically, the dates "1822 - 2022", respectively the date of Canova's death and the date of issue of the coin; around the edge, the writing “ANTONIO CANOVA”.
