Obverse

In the background, the entrance portal of Palazzo Bo, the historic seat of the University of Padua, on which stands, on the right, the handrail of the Scala del Sapere, located inside the palace, with frescoes by Giò Ponti illustrating the path of the student until reaching Alma Mater, pictured above; on the stairs, the University's motto “UNIVERSA UNIVERSIS PATAVINA LIBERTAS”. On the left, the author's signature “U. PERNAZZA” and, around it, the writing “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”.

Reverse

In the centre, the seal of the University of Padua highlighted on the stylized representation of the University's Anatomical Theatre, the first stable anatomical theater in the world; at the top, the dates “1222 - 2022”, respectively the year of the foundation of the University and the year of issue of the coin on the occasion of the 800th anniversary; in the exergue, “R”, identifier of the Rome Mint, and the value “5 EURO”.
